Gorlitz Railway to Konigs-Wusterhausen (suburban service;
to Nieder-Schiineweide or Grilnau also from the local stations of the
Staatsbahn, N. platform). — 3 M. (from the Silesian and Gorlitz sta¬
tions) Buumschulenweg. Spctth's Nursery, 1 M. to the S., is the
largest in Europe. —472 M. Nieder-Schbneweide (p. 201); branch-
line to (272 M.) Spindlersfeld (p. 201).
872 M. Grriinau (Gesellschaftshaus Restaurant; steamer to
Schmockwitz, see p. 24) is a villa-colony, pleasantly situated on
the Dahme, on which sailing and rowing regattas are held (comp.
p. 30). About 74 hr. upstream is a monument to Emp. William I.,
beside a restaurant. Pleasant walks lead through the woods on
the opposite bank (ferry from Colony Wendenschloss, p. 202) to
the (3/4 hr.) Miiggel-Berge (several restaurants), 74 nr- *° *'le N.
of the steamboat station. The *Bismarck Tower commands a wide
view (to the N. the Miiggel-See and Friedrichshagen, p. 202). —
12 M. Eichwulde. The village of Schmockwitz (Palme Restaurant),
3/4 hr. to the E., is prettily situated between the Lange-See, the
Seddin-See, and the Zeuthener See. — 1372 M. Zeuthen (Segler-
schloss Restaurant) is a colony of villas on the Zeuthener See,
frequented by boating and sailing parties. — 1572 ^1. Wildau.
1772 M. Konigs-Wusterhausen (Hotel Pfuhl, at the station),
a village on the Notte, with a Royal Shooting Lodge, famous
as the meeting-place of King Frederick William I.'s 'Tobacco Par¬
liament'. The house contains various memorials of that king (por¬
traits of his gigantic grenadiers painted by himself, etc.) and also
of Emp. William I. In 1730 Fred. William I. here pronounced the
final sentence on the crown-prince (afterwards Frederick the Great);
comp. p. 202. On the Dahme, 172 M. to the E. of the station, is the
pleasure resort of Neue Milhlc (steamer, see p. 24).
Cycling Route. From Berlin to Konigs-Wusterhausen, I8V4 M.
Beyond Nieder-Schbneweide the road is good and level; numerous woods.
Start from the Silesian Gate. — l'/4 M. Treptow; riders must dismount
before the village. — 3'j. M. Paved road, where riding is prohibited. 4'/a M.
Nieder-Schiineireide. To Kopenick, see p. 201. Our route lies straight
